The moment is vivid in my mind. Still painful in my heart. Yes I did it! Out of anger. Spite. And I’ll carry that burden with me forever and beyond. Forgive me Dad.
This fiction was written for Trifextra: Week Sixty-nine.
This weekend we are asking for a thirty-three word confession. You’re free to write non-fiction or fiction or to blur the lines in between. We just encourage you to get creative and give us your best.
Superb story, makes me want to hold the child in your story once again.
Thanks Tad…so nice of you to say.
A painful confession, as many can be. All that desire to be able to turn the clock back, though we never can.
I enjoyed your 33 words.
Glad you enjoyed those 33 words.
Your piece evoked a flashback to my childhood… being made to confess for stealing and eating grapes in the grocery store. That was a most painful confession.
Wow….I find it neat that my words can evoke such a strong memory. TY
At least the dad knows their child has a soul.
Very true. TY
awwwwww – just wanna hug that little guy inside of you.
Awwww….I am sure that is needed often too. TY
The picture of the child made this even more touching. The emotion was portrayed well!
Glad you felt the emotion..and when I saw the image I thought it was perfect cause it lent an age to the confession. TY Janna.
As a child, the hurt we can cause through our anger is more powerful than we realize. Well done.
Very true statement. TY for reading.
Children should be given looser boundaries to expect emotions they haven’t yet learned to control. Adults, on the other hand… (the problem is making that transition, I suppose)
Interesting statement. And you are right, it’s tough to expect them to control such an emotion with limited life experience. TY
This is so sad and powerful.
Thanks for the compliment Draug.
This begs for more details, and yet the lack of details makes it amazing. Well done with the prompt.
Thank you for linking up. Please don’t forget to return for the voting.
I was trying to make it vague yet have enough there to make it compelling. Hard to do but the challenge is what is most fun.
I think he means it. Whatever he did, I hope that he is forgiven.
I suppose the end result is up to the imagination of the reader. TY
Very intense emotional story. Well done.
Thanks for the compliment! 🙂
The writing is superb and the picture really accentuated the emotion. Wonderful!
Oh wow..thanks for such a wonderful compliment. I appreciate it. Glad you enjoyed the writing and the choice of picture. I wanted the reader to know it was a young kid. Kind of cheating I suppose 🙂
Ha well guess I cheated a little as well. 😉
