One could search a century and not find an answer. His life is one of aimless searching and lost dreams. He hopes the man in charge recognizes something inertly good in his tattered and beaten soul.
This fiction was written for Trifextra: Week Sixty-four.
This weekend we’re asking for exactly 33 of your own words plus the following three words:
- charge
- century
- lost
So 33 of yours plus 3 of ours means that everyone will have a 36 word response this time around.
this was so forthright in the realm of soul-searching. Love the way you used the word ‘charge.’
TY. 🙂
After a rotten week like this one past, I’m sure many of us feel this way. Every step is a little harder and we wonder if we’re just going through the motions without any rhyme or reason. Great use of prompts, you!
Thanks for the nice words! And your statement is so very true.
I could feel your words as I read them. Very good.
Very cool! TY Deana
Such a perfect picture to go along with your haunting words. Very nicely done.
Glad you thought the pic fit the writing. I was happy to find such a great picture afterwards. It fit. TY again for your kind words.
This is so deep and thought-provoking.
Glad you felt that way about the writing. TY
He still holds onto a bit of faith even though he’s lived through such a hard life. I love that.
Thanks for linking up!
Just a little holding on. Guess life does this to some people.
Intense
Glad you felt this way. TY
Sad and wonderful — wonderfully sad!
it sure is! 🙂
This was great! When things don’t work out as we dreamed, all we can hope for is that we were ‘good enough.’
So very true!
How deeply sad!Maybe his hopes will be met with a positive response this time around!
As long as we are breathing..there is still hope. TY
this was brilliant and a feeling that I am sure many of us share. “Will I be good enough? Am I worthy?”.
I found myself holding back tears as I asked myself the same questions of the “man in charge”.
Wow.
Thanks Kir. Certainly is a question I ponder often. And I even feel like the man in the picture looks at times and I am in my forties. TY
The image just makes this perfect post even more solid! Wow.
Thank you Marie. It took some searching to find…but the image fit.
Very sad. I clicked to like, but it felt wrong.
I understand that sentiment. TY
Great writing comes from deep pain. Nicely written and congratulations!
Thanks for the wonderful compliment.
